Fillings

Whether your tooth is broken or has a cavity, our dental team will work to repair it with a filling and remove any decayed portion.

What is a filling?

Fillings are used when there is decay, also known as cavities, in a tooth. They can also be used if there is a cracked or broken tooth that needs to be fixed.

What are composite fillings?

Composite fillings are the most widely used today. Because composite fillings are tooth coloured, they can be closely matched to the colour of existing teeth, and are more aesthetically suited for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of teeth.

Why do I need fillings?

  • Chipped teeth
  • Closing space between two teeth
  • Cracked or broken teeth
  • Decayed teeth (cavities)
  • Worn teeth

What can I expect after my filling?

It's normal to experience sensitivity to hot and cold when fillings are first placed, however this should subside shortly after your tooth acclimates to the new filling.

You will be given care instructions at the conclusion of your treatment. Good oral hygiene practices, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new fillings.
